Science Rocks!

About Ms. Case
I am originally from the Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York. I moved to Raleigh in 2001 and I love it here!
Unlike most teachers, I did not start out in education. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology, and a Master of Arts degree in Geology. After graduate school I started working in the exciting field of hydrogeology! That means I studied the movement of water through the Earth. My job was to look for and clean up chemicals spilled into the environment.
As important as my job was, I didn't feel as though I was making the difference that I wanted to make. I knew I needed to be doing something more meaningful and important. So I decided to become a teacher.
I LOVE science! Some would say I'm passionate about it! I'm even more passionate about teaching science! I love seeing young minds grasp new concepts and experience those "A-HA" moments.
I am REALLY proud to say that I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2018! This was an incredible journey for me and one that, I believe, has made me an even better teacher!
Some other things that I'm passionate about:
-Spending time with my family and animals (we love to hike and love to snuggle up on the couch while watching Netflix)
-Working out at the gym (bench press & pull-ups are my favorites)
-Eating delicious food (Beasley's Chicken & Honey, CUPCAKES!)
-Traveling (New York City is my favorite city in the WORLD!)
